Basque Center for Materials, Applications and Nanostructures, Bilbao, Spain
Since 2011, Stefan Wuttke is leader of the research group “Wuttkegroup for Science”
(wuttkescience.com), initially hosted at the Institute of Physical Chemistry at the
University of Munich (LMU), and at the Center for Nanoscience (CeNS) at the LMU (Germny).
Currently, he is an Ikerbasque Professor at the Basque Center for Materials, Applications
and Nanostructures.
He is author of over 80 papers, two book chapters and one patent. He is editor of
Advanced Functional Materials and received different awards for his research including:
Prize of the City of Poznań and Polish Chemical Society for the most prominent international
representatives of science and art (2019), CeNS publication award (2018 and 2017),
two Feodor Lynen research fellowships (2009-2011), Young Scientist Award for Catalysis
(2008).
Wuttkegroup for Science is focused on all aspects of internal and external surface
engineering of porous hybrid bulk- and nanomaterials and in the exploration of the
unexpressed potential of “the materials beyond” (materials with multiple functional
moieties that display synergetic effects). To this end, we are developing methodologies
to both read and write chemical information from and onto architecture backbone of
hybrid materials. At the same time, a basic understanding of the involved chemical
and physical elementary processes in the synthesis and functionalization of these
materials is pursued.
