Ala Aldahan is a professor of geosciences at the department of geology, United Arab Emirates University. He received the PhD in geoscience from the University of Uppsala (Sweden) in 1985. His research is focused on using geochemical tracers to investigate interactions between the atmosphere and the Earth’s surface. He applied solar and cosmic rays proxy data for the understanding of causes of climate change. He further investigated radioactivity releases from the global and regional nuclear activity and impact on the environment. He and his coinvestigators at the UAEU established the first radioactivity base line data for groundwater in the UAE. He has published over 400 papers and conference abstracts and supervised many postgraduates, postdoctoral and young researchers.
