Dr. Hussain AlHussain is the Secretary General Deputy for Institutional Affairs at the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.
He is passionate about the quality of education and training of the Healthcare Workforce nationally, regionally and globally, and making sure that our Healthcare Workforce is ready for the future.
He is a registered practicing Consultant Radiation Oncologist by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties, and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada, where he had obtained his Medical Degree from King Saud University (1998-2004) at Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, then did his Radiation Oncology Residency (2007-2011) and Sub-Specialty Fellowship Training (2012-2013) at the Ottawa Hospital Cancer Center, University of Ottawa, Canada.
Dr. AlHussain received his Canadian Royal College Board Certification on June 2011, and did his Sub-Specialty Fellowship in the field Head/Neck and CNS/Stereotactic Radiosurgery, where it is the focus of his clinical practice since his Board Certification in 2011.
He received his Master of Healthcare Management (International Health Leadership) from McGill University, CPHQ Certification in Healthcare Quality, and Governance, Risk and Compliance Professional (GRCP) Certification.
Dr. AlHussain served as the Director of Postgraduate and Scholarship Administration at King Fahad Medical City (2013-2016), chairing the Scholarship and Training Committee, the Academic Officers Committee and the JCI/CBAHI Medical Education Accreditation Taskforce, which lead to its Accreditation in 2014 as an Academic Medical Center.
He has joined the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) as a Consultant of Accreditation from Jan 2017 to July 2018, where he served as the founding Chairman of the Accreditation Surveyors’ Committee from June 2017 to June 2019, and lead the SCFHS Institutional Accreditation System Reform Taskforce from Oct 2018 until March 2019, which resulted at the launch the newly established Institutional Accreditation System on March 3rd, 2019. He served as the Chairman of the Central Accreditation Committee from April 2019 till July 2024 overseeing the Institutional Accreditation, Programs Accreditation, Accreditation Surveyors’, Accreditation Standards and Accreditation Appeal Committees.
Dr. AlHussain served at the SCFHS as the Executive Director of Accreditation from Aug 2018 till July 2024, and acted as the Executive Director of Training and Chairman of the Central Training Committee from March 2023 till July 2024, and he is performing his Clinical Duties on part-time basis at KFMC as a Sub-Specialty Consultant Radiation Oncologist sub-specialized in Head/Neck and CNS/Stereotactic Radiosurgery.
He has participated at multiple committees, panel discussions, educational sessions and scientific research activities pertaining to the healthcare at large.
Dr. AlHussain received many awards including King Saud University Faculty of Medicine Annual Distinction Awards (for the consecutive years from 1999 to 2003), Graduation Honor's Degree (2004), The Ottawa Hospital Foundation Guardian Angel Recognition Award (2010) and the Saudi Cultural Bureau at Canada Annual Academic Distinction Merit Award for the consecutive years from 2007 to 2013.
