Medical Education Expert, National Institute for Health Specialties
Dr. Fouzia Shersad V (MBBS, MHPE, FAIMER Fellow, FRCP (Glasg.), PhD) is an accomplished
physician, educator, and medical education specialist with 30 years of experience
across the USA, UK, India, Oman, and the UAE. Currently serving as a Medical Education
Expert at the National Institute for Health Specialties (NIHS) in the UAE, she works
on the development and implementation of Emirati Board exams and workplace-based assessments.
She also acts as a Project Advisor at the International FAIMER Institute in Philadelphia.
Dr. Fouzia dedicated over 20 years to Dubai Medical College (DMC) as Associate Professor
and Director of Medical Education and Quality, leading the institution to secure the
prestigious Dubai Quality Award, Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award, and World Education
Congress Awards. She organized Annual Dubai Medical Education Symposium (DMES) for
ten years, co-developed the UAE National Competency Framework for medical students
(EmiratesMEDs). She led the Working Group on Assessment of EmiratesMEDs to publish
the “Assessment Guidelines” for medical schools in the UAE.
A Senior Assessor for the Dubai Quality Award, Dr. Fouzia also guided DMC through
several accreditation cycles and championed social programs like the “Takecare” initiative
and “international away electives”.
An avid researcher, Dr. Fouzia focuses on graduate medical education, continuous professional
development, workplace-based assessment, and the emerging role of artificial intelligence
in medical training. Her passion lies in driving excellence in healthcare education
and leveraging technology to enhance assessment and learning outcomes for future medical
professionals.
