Professor, Acute Care Surgeon and a Statistical Consultant
Professor Fikri Abu-Zidan: An international expert in Statistics, Research Methodology,
Acute Care Surgery, Disaster Medicine, and Point-of-Care Ultrasound. He graduated
(MD) from Aleppo University (Syria) in 1981; gained the FRCS, Glasgow, Scotland in
1987; achieved his PhD in Trauma and Disaster Medicine from Linkoping University (Sweden)
in 1995; and obtained his Postgraduate Diploma of Applied Statistics from Massey University
(New Zealand) in 1999. He is currently serving as a Statistics and Research Methodology
Consultant for the World Society of Emergency Surgery. He has made major contributions
to trauma and acute care surgery management, education and research in Kuwait, Sweden,
New Zealand, Australia, and United Arab Emirates. He has more than 515 publications
in books and refereed international journals. He presented more than 830 invited lectures
and scientific abstracts, chaired more than 80 scientific sessions, and received more
than 40 national and international awards for clinical, research and educational activities.
