The successful Emirati Medical Education Conferences, organized by the National Institute for Health Specialties (NIHS) over the past two years, have become a cornerstone in the field. Building on this success, the NIHS is committed to continuing this series, with the next conference scheduled for February 15-16, 2025.
The NIHS is at the forefront of establishing and maintaining standards for specialty education and professional development. These efforts aim to enhance the national health workforce, improve the health system, and elevate the overall health of the UAE population. To further its mission and promote national capacities, NIHS continues to invest in innovative programs and partnerships that support these goals.
Conference Goals and Objectives
The ECME will focus on enhancing the capacity and quality of health professions education in the UAE, with a particular focus on postgraduate education. The conference aims to promote and inspire excellence, collaboration, and scholarship across the continuum of health professions education. The specific objectives are:
The ECME is positioned to address how best to use existing knowledge to guide practice and develop new knowledge to enrich HPE while bridging the interface between undergraduate and graduate health professions education. It includes
The two-day conference will involve keynote speeches, plenary sessions, and parallel sessions on the identified themes. A new feature this year will be to showcase research related to education. Abstracts will be invited from researchers and will be showcased in oral and poster presentations after a systematic peer-review process.

The oversight and overall responsibility for the conference is the mandate of the Conference Organizing Committee to be chaired by the NIHS Secretary General. Members are expected to come from partner organizations and healthcare authorities. The Secretary General shall constitute a Scientific Committee with reviewers who serve as scientific experts for the themes, the contents, the call for abstracts and papers, the appraisal of submissions and sessions organizations. The conference may seek the expertise of a relevant venue and company to handle the advertisement, communications, and logistics.
