Dr. Edward A. Fox serves as Founder, Executive Director, and Chairman of the Board of the Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (ndltd.org = theses.org = dissertations.org), as well as Executive Editor of the Journal of ETDs. He has been CTO of Mayfair, and its product division ClaimEdge, since 2018, as well as Professor of Computer Science (and Electrical and Computer Engineering) at Virginia Tech since 1983. His PhD and MS are from Cornell, with BS from MIT. He is a Fellow of IEEE and a Fellow of ACM, where he is one of the inaugural inductees of the ACM SIGIR Academy. He has been a lead investigator on 138 funded research projects. He has served as an expert on patent cases, and is an inventor on one patent as well as 3 other patent applications. His works have received over 19,000 citations; they include 19 books, 141 journal articles, 250 conference papers, and more than 300 other publications. He has given 69 keynote/distinguished lectures; 89 tutorials in 6 continents and over 28 countries; and 400 other talks. He has helped with hundreds of conferences and workshops, as well as many journals, and has guided thousands of students. He connects knowledge, information, and data -- with human-computer interaction, systems, and theory. His recent focus is on AI, NLP, search, text analytics, and workflows.
