Saed Alrabaee
Abstract
Boosting cybersecurity awareness among students and teachers is imperative in today's digital age. Educators should start by highlighting the significance of cyber threats, using real-world examples to underscore their impact. Basic cybersecurity principles, such as employing strong, unique passwords and using password managers, should be emphasized. Furthermore, the activation of multi-factor authentication on essential accounts can add an extra layer of security. Equally crucial is teaching safe browsing habits. This includes recognizing the difference between secure (https) and non-secure (http) websites and avoiding downloads from untrusted sources. Finally, in the realm of social media, guiding students and teachers to regularly review and adjust privacy settings and practice discerning online etiquette can further safeguard them from potential cyber threats. This workshop will review the prevalent cyber threats that users face globally, highlighting some of the notable attacks that have taken place recently. Further, it will propose countermeasures to these attacks and discuss future strategies to enhance cybersecurity awareness and prevention.
