Welcome Note: General Manager, Al Ain City Municipality

It is my great pleasure and honor to welcome all you to Al Ain City.

We will be delighted to have you with us in the City of Oases to participate in the 4th International Conference on Engineering Geophysics (ICEG2017). We have already witnessed successful first and second conferences. Following in the footsteps of the previous achievements, we continue our success in hosting the 4th conference on Engineering Geophysics to reinforce the importance of future projects through the preservation of the environment. I believe that this event will be an excellent opportunity for all participants and international experts to develop their fields of interest in geoscience and engineering both locally and globally.

Engineering Geophysics certainly provides a clear vision to empower our future development projects, and the infrastructure standard quality. This by far will attain the objective message of the municipal system in general and Al Ain City Municipality in particular to achieve a sustainable development and enhance the standard quality of living in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

It is worth mentioning that the last year’s outcomes of recommendations and expertise were impressive. We were able to use them to create an essential input in projects’ designing and avoiding the negative impacts. The geophysical studies showed so far the expected and required targets and the need to know the nature of the near surface layers of the city in order to establish the correct rules to avoid any unexpected risks that might happen in the future.

I am confident that the 4th ICEG2017 will achieve the expected goals as well as provide extremely rewarding and memorable experiences for all participants.

Welcome Note: Vice-Chancellor, United Arab Emirates University

The United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) organized, in collaboration with Al Ain City Municipality, the First, Second and Third International Conferences on Engineering Geophysics (ICEG) in December 2011,November 2013 and November 2015 respectively.

The success of all conferences was reflected by the increasing number of participants from over 25 countries and the high quality and number of papers submitted.

During ICEG2015, we introduced for the first time special sessions on Forensic Geosciences, in addition to more traditional topics related to engineering and the environment. These sessions were supported by Abu Dhabi Police and were attended by a number of international experts as well as many law-enforcement officers and decision-makers from all around the world. The conferences were fully supported by many higher regional authorities in the UAE.

The forthcoming ICEG2017 aims at reaching excellence in the application of the different geophysical methods to serve the community in the fields of engineering, the environment, archaeology, and forensic science among others. We are planning to make ICEG2017 a truly innovative event.

On behalf of the scientific community at UAEU, it gives me great pleasure to invite you to join us in the Third International Conference of Engineering Geophysics, to be held on the UAEU’s new, state-of-the-art campus in the city of Al Ain, UAE.

UAEU is the first and most comprehensive national university in the United Arab Emirates. Since its establishment in 1976, the University has expanded rapidly from 4 colleges to the current 9 colleges across all major discipline areas, with a total enrolment of over 13,000 students. The University employs over 900 faculty members and instructors, and offers bachelor degrees, postgraduate courses, PhD programs as well as Continuing Education Programs for the community at large.

The university is now one of the leading educational institutions in the region, with significant research and strong links to the government and the community. UAEU has an excellent reputation both in research and in teaching. As a result of the international success of the first and second editions of the ICEG we are committed to the organization of the third edition of the ICEG Conference in October 2017.

On behalf of the Local Committees, it is with great pleasure that I invite you to attend and participate in the Fourth International Conference of Engineering Geophysics to be held in Al-Ain, Abu Dhabi, UAE, from 09-12 October 2017. The conference focuses on different geophysical application aspects in Engineering, Environmental, Forensics, Archaeology, Hydrogeoloy, Geotechnical and other related fields.

We are very much encouraging the participation of young and geophysicists and researchers so that we maintain continuity in the development of the applied sectors of geophysics.
