In recognition of the importance of innovation and to support innovators, the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU), the University of the Future, launched the “Chancellor’s Innovation Award” to encourage the university community to actively contribute in establishing the UAE's knowledge-based economy and to enhance the role of innovation at UAEU.

 

Chancellor honors the Innovation Award winners

HE Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, UAEU Chancellor, honored the winners of the Chancellor’s Innovation Award 2017. The winners of the health field of the student category, were: Shafaa Abobaker Almaqdi, Saida Hafsa Rafique, Iness Belkalai, Asmaa El Sayah with Dr. Jaber Abu Qudeiri as the advisor for their innovation "Tempo", a new innovation in temperature sensing devices.

 

The winners of the technology field of the student category were: Al Yazia Khalifa Al Falasi, Amna Mohammed Al Jaberi, Khaula Mustafa Al Shanqiti, Yasmeen Said Amer with Dr. Qurban Ali Memon as their advisor for their innovation “Tracking and Disabling Smartphone Camera for Privacy and Security”. Mohammed Ziauddin and his advisor Prof. Abdel-Hamid I. Mourad won the general field of the student category for their innovation “An Innovative, Mobile, and Cost Effective Maskless Lithography System”.

 

For the staff category, the winners of the general field were Ahmed Mashood and Sirkanth Bezawada for their innovation “Swarm Intelligent Solar Drones for UAE” whilst the winners of the technology field were Eng. Muthanna Aziz and Dr. Waleed K Ahmed for their innovation “3D Technology for Learning the Mechanical Failure Mechanism, Smart, Innovative and Practical System”.

 

Honoring University Patent Owners

HE Chancellor of UAEU, also honored the university’s granted patents owners: Dr. José Oriol Lopez Berengueres, inventor of “Method and System for Forecasting Future events”; Thies Thiemann, the inventor of “A System for Converting Thermal Energy into Electrical Energy” and Dr. Mahmoud Al-Ahmad, the inventor of the "Vibrational Energy Harvesting System" and Ahmad Al-Talabani, the inventor of" Safety Helmet and Vehicle System Circuit and Device”.
