The Big Data Applications Forum Reviews Innovations in Urban Planning
A number of researchers discussed a range of research applications in the field of
urban planning and geospatial sciences during a seminar organized by the Faculty of
Humanities and Social Sciences.
Keynote Speakers Discuss Geographic Innovations
Dr. Walid Bin Ali – from the German University of Technology in Oman – presented on
future trends in geospatial innovations.
Maggie Mahmoud and Dr. Adel Bulbul from the leading geographic information systems
company Isri discussed how smart cities can use advanced analysis techniques. Professor
Michael from the National Center for Space Technology and Science at UAEU presented
on the marketing of large data to support scientific studies. Dr. Marwan Al Mubarak
and Dr. Abdul Qader Abu Al Qasem from UAEU discussed intelligent urbanization and
studies of Mars undertaken at UAEU.
Live Lab Experiences in Geospatial Sciences and Space
In cooperation with 6 leading actors in the field of geography and urban planning,
various live applications in the areas of Geospatial Science and Space were presented
by the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) These partners included
the Training Center Smart Solutions from the German University of Technology in Oman,
Isri Company, Geographic Information Systems Home, Global Technology Company, Inc.
and 2GIS maps shop and a mobile application platform.
Students’ Innovative Geospatial Research Exhibition
40 research projects were exhibited in the Innovative Geospatial Research Exhibition
designed for students to showcase and present their related research posters.
