Lectures by NASA Scientists as part of UAEU Innovation Activities
Danielle Nuding, Engineer Mars Mission M2020, NASA Jet propulsion lab gave a lecture
on “Mars, the Red Planet” that explored that characteristics of this planet and NASA’s
attempts to reach via “Mars Mission – (M2020)”. Telecommunication Eng. Brian Schratz,
NASA Jet propulsion lab, gave a lecture on “Rocket Challenges” where he explained
the basics necessary for building engineering communications and its applications
in the world of space rockets in terms of its design, operational and launch methods
till it penetrates Earth’s atmosphere and reaches its designated orbit.
There was also a couple of small workshops about space science, explaining space concepts
and its scientific terminologies. Sabrina Simon, Graphic designer and Archeological
illustrator, demonstrated the “Escape Earth Atmosphere and Blast off to Mars Room”,
which is adventure game in which students solve a series of puzzles and riddles using
clues, hints and strategy to complete the objectives at hand which is to escape Earth
and reach Mars. The Space Innovation Day at UAEU included a group of activities related
to space for the university students like “Astronomy Club”, “Mars Rover Race” and
“Aviation Club” as well as the Space Art exhibition and number of Space projects by
students.
