Prototype of Innovative (Vehicle-to-Vehicle) Communication Technology for Real-Time
Traffic Navigation and Control
The Roadway Transportation & Traffic Safety Research Center (RTTSRC) in collaboration
with Tata Consultancy Services, an Indian multinational technology company (IT), participated on Thursday, 1 February 2018 in UAEU innovation week activities with
a prototype of innovative Vehicle-to-Vehicle Communication Technology for real-time
traffic navigation and control within urban networks.
Among six developed invented vehicles, the prototype of the innovative vehicle represents
a consolidated effort by Professor Yasser Hawas, Director of RTTSRC and a team of inventors from UAEU’s students and researchers. In which, Professor
Hawas briefed the participants and visitors headed by H.E Mohammed Albaili, Vice Chancellor
of UAEU, about the work mechanism of this innovative vehicle- to-vehicle communication
technology, and how it can be benefited in order to achieve automatic communication
between the two cars for navigation and traffic control purposes, which can be achieved
through a developed of smart applications to overcome congestion in the roads and
provide self-identification using the satellite to help drivers reaching their destination
as easiest as possible. The vehicle will be equipped with innovative technology device
that consists of three controllers, the CPU, The Wireless Communication WC and the
Geographic Information System (GPS) unit, in addition to a smart algorithm that connects
the devices in all vehicles to update the data and ensure that the user reaches his
destination in the shortest possible time.
The presentation of this model gives a great opportunity for students, faculty and
researchers at UAEU as well as for the participated institutions that are involved
in the automotive industry, transport agencies and all relevant departments to identify
the benefits and employ this innovative technology knowledge toward the innovation
of vehicle communication technologies.
