H. E. Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh honors 32 winners of the Chancellor’s Innovation Award
This morning, the UAE Innovates Week 2021 activities were launched at the United Arab
Emirates University, which comes this year in conjunction with the preparations for
the celebration of the golden jubilee of the establishment of the UAE. The UAE University
organizes more than 112 virtual events from various centers, colleges and departments.
During the opening activities, H. E. Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh, Cultural Adviser to H.
H. the President of the UAE and Chancellor of the UAE University, honored the winners
of the Chancellor’s Innovation Award 2020-2021, whose number was 32 winners within
15 innovative projects. 5 student projects won within the technology, renewable energy
and transportation categories, while 7 faculty members projects won, and 3 staff projects
won in education and technology categories.
H. E. Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh, in his speech, thanked the participants in the activities
of the program, which contribute to promoting dissemination of knowledge and devoting
the culture of innovation as a basis for achieving sustainable development and quality
of life. He appreciated the achievements of these innovators, who are honored today
for their innovations and their entitlement to win this award in its sixth session.
He also confirmed that these innovations and achievements are to be translated into
a tangible reality that contributes to the progress of societies and nation-building
and to continuity of excellence and qualitative academic research and engagement of
students at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in presenting innovative research
ideas and projects.
He pointed out the importance of communicating with strategic partners in the relevant
sectors and bodies from various governmental and private institutions locally, regionally
and globally to participate in the university's innovations and develop appropriate
methods to optimally employ and benefit from them.
This year’s Innovation Week activities had a new framework of creativity and innovation
in light of the prevailing conditions due to the Covid-19 pandemic. All activities
will be held virtually through communication techniques, and include more than 112
qualitative scientific activities that varied between lectures, conferences and educational
workshops. It will address topics of space, energy, health, nutrition, agriculture,
engineering, environment, information security, robotics and drones, and artificial
intelligence, in addition to many innovative and diverse events for various activities,
including Lectures, workshops, innovations presentations, awards, developments in
academic research and discussions.
