The lab contains student creative ideas in the "Application Factory"

The United Arab Emirates University inaugurated the "My Idea Space", which includes a wide range of tools and techniques that enable students and faculty members to come up with innovative initiatives and solutions to challenges. It was attended by H. E. Saeed Ghobash, Chancellor of the UAEU, Prof. Ghaleb Ali Al Breiki - Acting Vice Chancellor - and a number of Deans, faculty and students.

Dr. Maryam Al Yamahi, Director of the Lab and Application Factory Project, said, "My idea Space” lab is an innovation hub that allows the university community the opportunity to transfer their ideas into an applied reality, with the aim of focusing on innovation as an essential hub and transformative element for any type of business activity." She pointed out that the laboratory consists of three main units: the design thinking unit, the App Factory unit, and the start-up accelerator unit to study the product and its market value.

She noted that the aim of establishing this lab is to transfer knowledge and benefit to students, faculty members and researchers. The lab is organizing a number of workshops, lectures and various events to involve them in activities based on a studied methodology that uses innovative ways and means to come up with innovative ideas and find realistic solutions to the challenges facing the region.

 

Dr. Maryam pointed out that the special design of this lab has taken into account lighting, supplies and devices of modern technologies.  In addition to the location, which was established in the place accessible to the students in order to encourage the participation of students, researchers and faculty members to exchange visions and ideas among students. The lab embraces the shift from idea and concept to commercial value.
