It is with a great honor that we welcome you in Al-Ain and to host the Fifth International Conference on Engineering Geophysics.

Since 2006, Engineering Geophysics has been one of the tools that Al-Ain City Municipality uses to study the ground truth of all building sites in Al-Ain Region. The Municipality made the geophysical survey a mandatory requirement for issuing the building permit. To continue with the Municipality’s obligations to serve the nation with best knowledge and technologies in the field of Engineering/Environmental Geophysics, it has decided in collaboration with the United Arab Emirates University and the international specialized association to hold the International Conference on Engineering Geophysics (ICEG) every two years. This Conference has become one of the most important scientific conferences as well as one of the top five global conferences in the field of engineering geophysics applications during the last thirty years according to the specialists’ assessment.

During the past ten years the ICEG has excelled from being just a scientific conference, to become one of Abu Dhabi’s projects. Engineering/Environmental Geophysics is helping in providing the answers to what will be the nature and characteristics of future projects, the quality. and the standards of the infrastructures. Thus, reflecting the message of Al Ain City Municipality to adopt high quality and efficient projects to achieve sustainable development and promote the standards for the desired quality of life in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

This year, Al Ain city is welcoming one more time representatives from over 40 countries from the different parts of the world, with expected participation of more than 350 scholars, academics and specialist in the field of engineering geophysics and its applications and the related scientific subjects. I am sure that they will presenting the best international practices in their fields.
