Prof. Xu Maowen is currently the Leader of the College of Materials and Energy at
Southwest University, Director of the Chongqing Key Laboratory of Clean Energy Materials
and Technology, and a member of the Academic Committee of Southwest University. He
earned his PhD from Lanzhou University, and was a postdoctoral researcher at Prof.
J.B. Goodenough’s (Nobel laureate) group at University of Texas.
His current research interests mainly focus on CO2RR, aqueous Zn-CO2 batteries, sodium-sulfur batteries, aqueous zinc-ion batteries, and all-solid-state
batteries. He has published 370research and review papers, 2 books and more than 20 patents with over 17,200 citations
and 68 H-index. Such as, Nat. Commun., Adv. Mater., Adv. Energy Mater., Adv. Funct. Mater., Angew, Chem, Adv.
Sci., Energy Storage Mater., Nano Energy, Nano-Micro Letters, Chem. Eng. J., J. Mater.
Chem.A and Chem Commun. etc.
He has trained more than 80 post-docs, doctoral and master students. He has presided
over 4 national-level projects, and other key projects such as the Ministry of Education
and the City of Chongqing, exceeding 10 topics. He served as the reviewer for more
than 30 SCI journals in databases such as ACS, Wiley, RSC, and Springer. He has served
as an expert in project reviews and scientific and technological award evaluations
for the National Natural Science Foundation of China.
Prof. Xu is also a graduate thesis review expert for the Degree Center of the Ministry
of Education. He serves as the Deputy Director of the Chongqing Materials Professional
Teaching Guidance Committee, the Vice President of the Chongqing Functional Materials
Technology Innovation Strategic Alliance, the Vice Chairman of the Council of the
Chongqing Functional Materials Society and a member of the International Electrochemical
