Matthias Fink

Grenoble School of Management, France

Mathias Fink, Ph.D. is a professor of strategy at Grenoble Ecole de Management and a professor of innovation management at JKU Linz, Austria. Professor Matthias previously had professorial roles at ARU Cambridge (UK), Leuphana University Lueneburg (Germany), and was a researcher at the Institute for Small Business Management and Entrepreneurship as well as head of the Research Institute for Liberal Professions at WU Vienna University of Economics and Business (Austria).

Rodrigo Basco

American University of Sharjah

As part of a fourth-generation family-owned Argentinean firm, Dr. Rodrigo Basco has always been interested in the nuances of family businesses. He is currently a Professor at American University of Sharjah (AUS)–United Arab Emirates and holds the Sheikh Saoud bin Khalid bin Khalid Al-Qassimi Chair in Family Business. He is the Board Chairman of STEP Project Global Consortium and Associate Editor of Journal of Family Business Strategy. He is also visiting professor at IMT School for Advanced Studies Lucca (Italy). His research focuses on entrepreneurship, management, and regional development with special interest in family firms, and he has taught economics, management, and family business courses at universities in Spain, Chile, and Germany. Dr. Rodrigo Basco was ranked as the World’s Top 2% most-cited scientists by Stanford University.

His research has been published in international academic journals, including Journal of Family Business Strategy, European Planning Studies, Family Business Review, European Management Journal, Journal of Management & Organization, Journal of Business research, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Entrepreneurship and Regional Development, Business Strategy and the Environment, Harvard Business Review, and International Small Business Journal, among others. Dr. Basco recently edited several special issue on the topics of “Family Business and Regional Development”, “Entrepreneurial Families in Business Across Generations, Contexts, and Cultures, and “Family Business, “Local development in Ibeoramerica”, and “Family Business in the Arab World”. He is an editorial board member for several leading journals.

He is author and co-editor of several books on family firms. Recently, he co-edited the academic book “Family Business and Regional Development” in the editorial house Routledge. He is also co-author of one the first Spanish textbooks on family firms for undergraduate and postgraduate students and general audience interested in the topic of family firms.

Before joining AUS, Dr. Basco was a postdoctoral scholar at the Witten Institute for Family Business at the University of Witten/Herdecke in Germany. He was also a visiting researcher at the University of Edinburgh (Scotland) and at CeFEO at Jonkoping University. He blogs actively about family business topics for a general audience on his Family Firm Blog.

Prof. Alnoor Bhimani

Lahore University of Management Sciences

Dr. Alnoor is a Professor of Management Accounting. He has also headed the Department of Accounting at London School of Economics (LSE) during his 30 years’ service at the institution. His academic work and research interests include management accounting in the digital economy, international comparative financial management, strategic finance, the socio-cultural analysis of accounting systems and aspects of globalization, governance and financial management, entrepreneurship and economic growth. Dr. Alnoor is an advocate for quality education and innovation; an accomplished scholar and a dedicated teacher. At LSE, he taught the first course ever on Internet Entrepreneurship. He has authored over 100 publications including bestselling books in financial management, technology and digitization. He is connected with tech-entrepreneurs and sits on business school Advisory Boards in Africa, America, Europe and Asia. He holds an Undergraduate degree from King’s College London UK, an MBA from Cornell University USA where he was a Fulbright Scholar. He has also obtained a PhD from London School of Economics UK. He is a Chartered Professional Accountant from Canada. In 2016, Professor Bhimani was conferred an Honorary Doctorate of Science in Economics and Business Administration by the University of Aalto in Finland. The degree was in recognition of his research leadership in management accounting and its impact on the research agenda and orientation of the field across Europe.

Dr. Tareq Al Ameri

ADEK, Abu Dhabi

Dr. Tareq Al Ameri was leading the K-12 Education Affairs and the Promotion and Business Development Divisions under the Private Education Sector since 2011 in the Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK). Since February 2021, he has assigned the role to lead the infrastructure and facilities office. Dr. Tareq Al Ameri has initiated development and formulation of specific policies, programs, standards, guidelines and regulations in Private School Licensing system on the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. During his years with Promotion and Business Development division, he has established bilateral relationships with key international school operators to bring private and minority schools to global standards. Prior to his engagement with the education sector, he was once working in Al Ain Municipality under the program management office.

He also once served in the Oil and Gas sector as a head of Maintenance Section for ADNOC Gas Processing responsible in initiating plan and control of maintenance activities as well as ensuring implementation of health, safety and environment protocols.
