Nancy Fichtman Dana, Ph.D., has spent 25 years studying and advocating for the process of practitioner
inquiry as a mechanism for educator professional learning. She is currently a Professor
of Education in the School of Teaching and Learning in the College of Education at
the University of Florida.
Throughout her career, she has worked extensively in supporting schools, districts
and universities in implementing powerful programs of job-embedded professional development
through inquiry across the United States and in several countries, including China,
South Korea, Belgium, Portugal, The Netherlands, Slovenia, and Estonia, where her
text Digging Deeper into Action Research, was recently translated.
She has published ten books and over 80 articles and book chapters related to teachers’,
teacher candidates’, administrators’, and teacher educators’ professional learning
through inquiry, receiving several honors for these works that include the Association
of Teacher Educator’s Distinguished Research in Teacher Education Award and the National
Staff Development Council (Learning Forward) Book of the Year Award.
