The Department of Special Education, United Arab Emirates University in Collaboration with the Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Distinguished Academic Performance is organizing the International Conference for the Gifted and Talented.

 

Introduction

The “2016 initiative campaign: Year of Reading” launched by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, came as a new step in the march of the UAE towards consolidating the culture of science, knowledge and access to the world's cultures in the hearts of the new generations in UAE. It reflects the multiplicity of perspectives in the theory and practice of creativity.

The ultimate vision goal of such initiative is to provide the consecutive generations with the state-of-the-art cultural, intellectual and cognitive theories and projects to empower these generations to be creative and leaders in their scientific fields. The main task is to examine the central issues that animate the themes of creativity, talent development and excellence in schools and in the workplace, as well as analyzing their related socio-cultural activities and processes.

The basic theme behind this conference is based on his Highness vision of the crucial importance of a reading campaign and its impact on creating new empowered generations that can lead and innovate.  The expected outcome of this conference is expected to be extraordinary through the distinguishable contribution of invited national and international professors, specialists, and decision makers in the reading gifted and talented fields in the Arab World and Western Countries.
