Work experience : Worked for 18 years as clinical dietician in both government sector & private sector,
of which the last 12 years worked as Head of Department(HOD) – Dietetics, in one of
the largest hospitals in KZN (South Africa) . For 10 years, was extensively involved as lecturer and trainer in both under & post
graduate dietetic student training at the renowned university of KZN(SA). Have been
instrumental in developing local and regional nutritional policies, dietary guidelines
and protocols for government sector. Served 4 years on board of the Health Professional
Council of South Africa board – HPCSA (which is the statuary body that governs all
health care professionals in the country). My role extensively involved in reviewing,
evaluating, revising university training programmes & curricula offering degrees in
dietetics and/or nutrition. During my time of working in SA, I was an active member
of ADSA (South African Dietetic Association).
Have presented numerous lectures and master classes at various National and International congresses.
Have a strong passion for the field of nutrition and dietetics, teaching and training.
Special interests : Critically Ill pts; Surgical (especially trauma, burns, short bowel syndrome, organ-transplant) ; HIV/AIDS (adults and paediatrics) ; Oncology ; Paediatrics -Child Health ; Professional Ethics ; Teaching/Training.
